Reefer Equipment Design Enhancements

The “flashing” inside the reefer at the transition from the refrigeration unit to the flooring is of a concaved design to reduce the likelihood of damage from forklift blades. This benefits the customer because it helps to ensure that sufficient airflow is allowed to circulate without being impeded.

The refrigerated containers have increased foam density (more foam per square inch) to improve the insulation and strength of the reefers.

The newest reefers (those purchased in the last 2 years) have additional floor stringers, side posts, and roof bows in order to provide added strength. In addition, there are thicker ‘doubler plates’ on the roof near the corner posts for additional support.

The newest reefers’ floors have additional floor stringers to provide greater floor strength from Forklift usage. There is a solid piece of a special composite material in the back five feet of the floor, which will provide better strength to the initial force of the forklift entering the reefer.
