ReeferPlus GPS
Introducing ReeferPlus®GPS container tracking and shipment monitoring solution for cargo moving in the Puerto Rico trade. ReeferPlus®GPS is designed to track and monitor high-value perishable cargo through the entire transport chain from packing to delivery. With this new service, we provide state-of-the-art location tracking and security detection, plus up-to-the-minute information on conditions inside the box – on temperature, humidity and more.
HOW does it work?
Using Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) and cellular technology furnished by Impeva Labs, Horizon Lines can track the location of containers anywhere in the United States, in Puerto Rico, and at sea. ReeferPlus®GPS also uses sensors inside the box to monitor container security and shipment conditions. These active devices transmit data to Horizon Lines’ core operations management system. And with online visibility tools; shippers can know the ‘where’, ‘when’ and the ‘how’ of their highly-sensitive refrigerated cargoes.
WHY it benefits you.
The Horizon System links data reported from the container to predetermined shipment parameters to create updates in the form of Alerts. ReeferPlus®GPS provides two kinds of Alerts to track a shipment from origin to destination.
Event Notification Alerts are sent after an event has occurred, including equipment dispatch, shipment departure, shipment en route and shipment arrival at destination.
Proactive Alerts can be set to generate when a shipment deviates from a planned route or schedule; to advise of condition changes inside the reefer container, or if the container doors have been opened at any point in the transit.
These alerts are automatically routed via the web to customer portals and to Horizon operations for immediate action, including remote reefer adjustments or emergency maintenance.
