New Hazardous Regulations for the Port of Shanghai
Dear Valued Customer:
Horizon Lines has been informed of a new regulation from the Shanghai MSA (Maritime Safety Administration) on hazardous shipments into the port of Shanghai effective July 1, 2011. This new regulation applies to hazardous cargo that imports or transships via the Shanghai port.
Please be advised that the following documentation will be required at origin for all hazardous cargo bound for the port of Shanghai in addition to the hazardous declaration:
- MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) – An MSDS must be provided for each hazardous commodity being shipped.
- Declaration on safety and fitness of dangerous goods
- License for special commodities, as required by the Chinese government
Additionally, the following documentation will be required at destination for all hazardous cargo bound for the port of Shanghai:
- Authority letter of the shipper, consignee, or cargo owner
Please work directly with your agents to confirm they have the required documentation for these clearances prior to tendering to Horizon Lines.
