Horizon Lines of Alaska has filed today with the Surface Transportation Board a revision to the Hazardous Surcharge per Rule 540 in Alaska Tariffs HRZK 301, 313, 314, 318, 453 and 462. The effective date of the revision is July 10, 2010.
The surcharge will change from a hundred weight rate to a flat charge based on the weight brackets as outlined in the chart below.
Hazardous Materials Weight Hazardous Materials Surcharge
1 to 2,000 lbs. $ 36.00
2,001 to 4,000 lbs. $ 43.00
4,001 to 6,000 lbs. $ 68.00
6,001 to 8,000 lbs. $ 93.00
8,001 to 9,999 lbs. $118.00
10,000 lbs. & over $134.00
