Horizon Lines of Alaska has filed today with the Surface Transportation Board a general rate increase of 5% for freight moving to and from Kodiak, Alaska and Dutch Harbor, Alaska. This increase applies to Horizon Lines’ Alaska Tariffs 313, 314, 318 and 453 and will be effective on January 10, 2010.
We are taking this action because of increasing costs throughout our transportation network to and from Alaska, and investments in equipment we are making in the Alaska trade. We are working very hard to minimize these and future cost increases.
