Alaska Announcements: Tariff & Administration: Alaska Fuel Surcharge Effective 8-30-09

Dear Valued Customer:
Horizon Lines of Alaska has filed today with the Surface Transportation Board to increase the Ocean fuel surcharge as specified in Rule 339 (Fuel Related Surcharge) of our Alaska tariffs 301, 314, 453, 313, 318 and 462 from 18.5% to 20.5%. The effective date for this increase is August 30, 2009.
Horizon Lines of Alaska has also filed today with the Surface Transportation Board to increase the Inland fuel surcharge as specified in Rule 338 (Inland Fuel Surcharge) of our Alaska tariffs 301, 314, 453, 313, 318 and 462 from 15.0% to 18.0%. This fuel surcharge applies only to inland origin and destination arbitraries, including local pick-up and delivery. The effective date for this increase is August 30, 2009.
We will continue to monitor fuel price trends and adjust the fuel surcharges accordingly.
