PUERTO RICO SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT
Tropical Storm Irene – Update 2
Dear Valued Customer:
The National Hurricane Center forecasts that Tropical Storm Irene will strengthen to Hurricane status in the next 24 hours and a Hurricane Warning has been put into effect for Puerto Rico.
Additionally, the US Coast Guard has declared condition Zulu for the port of San Juan, closing the port to all vessel traffic as of 6:00PM tonight.
As a result of this closure, Horizon Trader voyage TO437S will arrive late to San Juan tomorrow. At this time, our “best case” cargo start time tomorrow will be at 10:00AM with an approximate 3-4 hour delay versus normal availability for most shipments. This estimate is completely dependent on early re-opening of the port by the US Coast Guard.
Horizon Lines is aware of the effects that storm delays have on our customers’ operations and will make every reasonable effort to ensure effects from this delay are minimized. We will continue to provide timely and accurate updates on the progress of this storm.
