PUERTO RICO SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT
Tropical Depression 9 – Initial Update
Dear Valued Customer:
The National Hurricane Center has commenced tracking of Tropical Depression 9. It is expected to strengthen to Tropical Storm status today. The Center has also put a Tropical Storm Watch (wind speeds between 39 & 74MPH within 36 hours) into place for Puerto Rico and nearby islands.
TD9 is currently located approximately 645 miles East of Guadeloupe, moving West at 20MPH with maximum sustained wind speeds of 35MPH.
The current outlook is that the storm will be at Hurricane strength by the time the storm approaches Puerto Rico between Thursday & Friday this week. This storm does have the potential to disrupt shipping lanes between Puerto Rico & the US Mainland.
Customers are encouraged to furnish freight to Horizon Lines as early as possible in order to ensure any effects this storm has on their supply chains are minimized.
Horizon Lines will provide daily updates to the trade as we continue to track the development of Tropical Depression 9.
