PUERTO RICO SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT
Hurricane Irene – Update 6
Dear Valued Customer:
Hurricane Irene is currently a Category 2 Hurricane. The storm’s present location is 50 miles North-northwest of Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic, and is moving West-northwest at 12 MPH. Maximum sustained winds are 100 MPH. Rough seas and dangerous waves are expected as a result of Irene.
Irene is expected to strengthen into a Category 4 or 5 Hurricane as this week progresses.
The projected path of the storm has the potential to affect cargo movements between San Juan and Jacksonville later this week. In preparation for possible adverse weather, Horizon Lines encourages our customers to furnish southbound cargo and pickup discharged northbound cargo as early as possible in Jacksonville.
Our Houston and Elizabeth services are expected to remain unaffected by this storm.
We will continue to provide timely and accurate updates on the progress of this storm.
